Big Bam Comes to Perry
From about noon until around 5 p.m. on June 10 Big Bam bicyclists came into Perry from Route B. Many stopped at Hootenanny and Rick's Place before going onto the Bill Trower Memorial Park where a tent city popped up during the afternoon. Hannibal National Bank employees greeted the cyclists with water, apples and bananas as they made their initial stop behind Hootenanny where Brats and hot dogs were being grilled and Planet Jazz Mid-Missouri played for those who sat in the shade on the west side of the street to enjoy the music, visit with one another and watch the cyclists arrive.
Free shuttles brought people to and from the park to the corner of Main and Palmyra Street.
Food was available to both cyclists and the public and a free concert by Two-Bit Steve started at 6:30 p.m.
The cyclists came into Perry from Columbia and were headed to their next stop in Macon after spending the night in the park and having a biscuits and gravy breakfast before starting out on Tuesday,
