Russell Peterson, 86 of Paris, passed away on Saturday morning, February 11, 2017, at Monroe Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on August 18, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Ward and Daisy Ruff Peterson.
Russell married Dorothy Clark on August 9, 1949, in Moberly, Mo., and she survives at home. Other survivors include one son; Ron (Lisa) Peterson of Perry, one daughter-in-law, Betty Peterson of Clark; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Ann Lewis of Moberly and Mary Ellen Cadmus of Springfield, Mo., and two brothers, Richard Peterson of Branson and Jim Peterson of Bolivar. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Peterson, one brother and six sisters.
Russell owned and operated Peterson’s Foods in Paris and Center for 33 years. He served the City of Paris as an Alderman for many years and was the Mayor of Paris for 12 years. He attended the Paris United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, at Agnew Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Roger Huff officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
