GENERAL MILLS DONATES $7,000 TO UNITED WAY’S COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND
Hannibal, Mo. – The United Way of the Mark Twain Area’s COVID-19 Response Fund received a generous $7,000 gift from the Hannibal General Mills Plant.
The United Way’s COVID-19 Response Fund has been established to assist local nonprofit agencies with funding programs that are being created, changed, and/or increasing in demand due to COVID-19.
Dollars from this fund will prioritize the needs of United Way agencies. However, organizations in Lewis, Marion, Monroe, Ralls, and Shelby Counties in Missouri that are not United Way agencies can apply for grant funding as well. Additional documentation will be required from these agencies.
The first project this fund supported was creating Senior Support Bags that are being
distributed through area senior centers through their Meals on Wheels programs. These
bags included some shelf staples and paper products that will ensure seniors have what
they need to stay home during this crisis and not go to the stores. Seniors are some of
the area’s most vulnerable to COVID-19.
Individuals and businesses are encouraged to support the COVID-19 Response Fund by
giving online at http://unitedwaymta.org/donate, through the United Way of the Mark
Twain Area’s Facebook Page, or sending payment to PO Box 81 Hannibal, MO 63401.
Ensure donations mailed are specially marked for the COVID-19 Response Fund.
Additionally, United Way will be selling “2020 Let’s Roll” t-shirts to benefit the COVID-19
Response Fund. More information will be available on these t-shirt sales soon.
