Richard "Dick" August VanHecke
Richard "Dick" August VanHecke, 82 of New London, Mo., passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Barkley Cemetery in New London. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London.
There will be no visitation.
The family is being served by the James O’Donnell Funeral Home of Hannibal, Missouri.
Richard was born on August 15, 1934, in Muscatine County, Iowa, to August and Amanda Brumm VanHecke.
Richard was married to Helen Ruth Dowell. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2006.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Moeller of Dumont, Colo.; his son, Kevin VanHecke; his brother, Donald VanHecke (Judy); and Richard’s special friends, Bernie and Dee Powell and Danny and Kaylyn Powell and their children, Danny Jr., Bradyn and Colton.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Scott VanHecke.
Richard was a dairy farmer most of his life. He also worked in hotel management. He retired from working at Pace Manufacturing in Monroe City, Missouri.
Richard enjoyed fishing and spending time on his farm. He loved to read Louis L’Amour western novels and track the stock market daily. Most of all he loved his dog, “King Dog” and the time they shared.
Richard was a Christian by faith.
