NECAC to Host First-time Homebuyer Seminar

March 18, 2020

It’s among the biggest purchases anyone will ever make, but it’s also the one most know little about.
The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) and US Bank are taking the uncertainty out of buying a house. The two are hosting a free First-Time Homebuyer Seminar from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the NECAC Marion County Service Center, 3518 Palmyra Road in Hannibal.
“NECAC has a number of programs and services to help those who are looking at buying a house,” said NECAC Homeownership Programs Director Marsha Signoracci. “We’ll help take the stress out of the process and give people information they can use to make sure they’re making the best decisions.”
“It’s important to attend the Homebuyer Seminar to learn what loan programs are available to help achieve the dream of homeownership,” said Angela Finding, a CRA Mortgage Loan Officer with US Bank. “Customers often don’t realize there are low to no down payment loan programs available to help them move from renting to owning. The seminar provides the confidence needed through education and tools to make an informed decision when they are ready to make one of the biggest decisions in their life, purchasing a home.”
NECAC offers homeownership classes that teach participants about mortgages, understanding credit, getting a loan, taxes, record-keeping and other topics. Programs available include USDA Rural Development 502 and 504 loan programs. NECAC can convert rent-assistance into home ownership vouchers.
