Ralls County R-II Board Meeting Update

The regular Ralls County R-II Board of Education met on January 16 in the Mark Twain High School library.
The Mark Twain High School Jazz and Concert bands played prior to the board meeting. Students were recognized for Habit Heroes, MTJH Students of the Month, and Tri-State Cross Country Team.
Doug Shaffer, MT Band Director, spoke to the Board about an opportunity to participate in the Grand Nationals Marching Band competition next November in Indianapolis, Indiana. The band will begin fundraising to pay for the trip expenses.
Building administrators shared information on the following topics: transportation updates, Bengal Bash, PAT update, enrollment changes, bus inspection process, Frozen Jr. play, Summer Institute Conference presentation for PBIS, Winterfest Concerts, science experiments highlighted in videos, Archery program, and perfect attendance students.
The facilities and long-range planning moves forward with preplanning for work that could commence in the summer in anticipation of the ballot measures being supported by voters.
The bids were reviewed for the COPS grant in the amount of $254,796 with 75% from the grant proceeds and 25% from the district funds.
Photography bids were reviewed along with feedback from employees who work directly with the service providers. Wagner Portraits was approved for the next three school years.
Audit bids were reviewed and a bid from Wade Stables, P.C. was approved for the next three fiscal years.
Architecture & Design service pending the ballot measure approvals will be through Architechnics, Inc.
Technology support service contract was approved through Fantastechs.
Policy updates have been provided from MSBA, a committee was formed to discuss the recommendations and will report for approval at the February regular meeting.
Board election filing continues through January 21 at 5:00 p.m. for three open seats in the April 7 election. At this time four candidates have signed up: Mark Northcutt, Ron Evans, Jonathan Conrad and Daniel Clark. (CSIP 2.2)
Administration salary schedule was briefly discussed with no further action taken.
TAB calendar committee members have been established and the group will meet Tuesday, January 21, to discuss calendar surveys and the development of a proposed calendar.
Summer Journey summer school program dates will be May 26-June 19.
Bidding process has begun to collect price quotes for the purchase of two school buses with trade in, diesel fuel contracting, and employee medical insurance. Discussion and decision will occur in February.
CSIP progress on goals and activities were shared and discussed.
Academic achievement, attendance, food service, and transportation reports were shared from November.
A closed session was held for personnel issues.
The next regular meeting will be Thursday, February 13, at 6:00 p.m.
