Donation Provides Flexible Learning for Ralls Students

January 30, 2020

Shine a Light on Autism made a generous donation to Ralls County School District again this year. They provided funding for an annual subscription to Flocabulary. Finding ways to engage all types of learners in the classroom can be a challenge. The hip-hop songs, videos, and opportunities for student interaction with the curriculum keeps students highly engaged. Music provides a powerful foundation for learners of all abilities to access and connect with the academic content in the areas of language arts, math, science, social studies, life skills, vocabulary, and current events. Flocabulary uses a scaffolded and supportive structure that ensures all students are able to learn.
Flocabulary supports the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as it provides multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement offering an amazing opportunity for students with special needs to access grade level curriculum in a variety of modalities that meet their personal learning needs. Mrs. Hill said, “The students at Mark Twain Junior High School are highly engaged while developing core literacy skills thanks to the generosity of the Shine a Light on Autism organization.”
