Ogle Appointed to Heart Student-Athlete Association
Heart of America Athletic Conference Commissioner Lori Thomas has announced another new addition to conference offerings by developing the Heart Association of Student-Athletes (HASA).
Culver-Stockton College women's basketball player Kaelee Ogle, a junior guard from Center, MO 63436 (Mark Twain HS / Quincy University) has been appointed as the Wildcats' representative.
The goal of the association is to actively promote a positive relationship between student-athletes and both conference and campus athletic administrators through open communication, support, representation and constructive feedback while creating unity, academic success and well-being among all student-athletes.
The HASA will serve as a key voice for student-athletes as leaders of each member institution in the matters of champions of character, NAIA and conference policies, conduct in competition, and policies and situations that directly affect the student-athlete experience and welfare. In addition, the HASA will be a resource to the Council of Presidents and Board of Governors when making decisions that could have an impact on the student-athlete experience.
Members of the HASA were appointed by their respective institutions for their exceptional character, leadership skills and an ability to understand a conference-wide big picture. The committee will serve the following functions:
Discuss and provide feedback on conference topics affecting student-athlete welfare
Assist in educating student-athletes about Heart/NAIA issues on their home campus
Increase and improve student-athletes' understanding of the Heart and NAIA Legislative process
Promote student-athlete participation in Champions of Character programs
Provide a forum for addressing student-athlete concerns
Ogle and the new association have their first meeting during the Heart of America Athletic Conference Summit July 29 in Olathe, Kan.
