HANNIBAL –The Northeast Missouri Workforce Development Board, Hannibal Job Center, and Vocational Rehabilitation will host a first of its kind in the area “Reverse Job Fair” held on June 6, 2019 at Hannibal LaGrange University at the Roland Fine Arts Complex.
The Reverse Job Fair is a different concept than the normal job fair. The job-ready participants have been pre-selected. They will be prepared with displays highlighting their desired career pathways and will have resumes ready to give to the employers. They will be prepared to interview and fill out applications the day of the job fair.
We hope that our local employers will take advantage of this opportunity to interview and hire our job candidates. Employers are invited to attend a panel discussion at 9 am and then they will be able to engage and interview with jobseekers from 10 am to Noon.
NEMO Workforce Development Executive Director, Diane Simbro said, “Our folks with disabilities are often overlooked for job opportunities. Events such as this will help to ensure that we are creating opportunities for all of the men and women across our region.

Employers need employees, especially now when our unemployment rate is so low. Our job at NEMO WDB and Vocational Rehabilitation is to match employers with employees. This event will showcase the skills and abilities that these job seekers are able to bring to the workplace.”
Kara Bates-Berlin from Vocational Rehabilitation stated that the jobseekers attending will represent many of the in-demand job openings in the local area, including welding, healthcare, production, food service, and maintenance. The job candidates have different levels of education and skill levels. All of the prospective candidates are 18 or older. She said, “They are eager to get to work and share their knowledge and abilities. Some employers may be unsure about hiring people with disabilities, so we have arranged for several speakers to share their employment experiences and answer questions prior to the job fair.”
Employers are encouraged to pre-register by calling the Vocational Rehabilitation Office at 573-248-2410 or The Hannibal Job Center at 573-248-5250 or email or
The facility is accessible but if anyone has a disability and requires accommodations in order to fully participate in this activity, they should contact Vocational Rehabilitation at 573-248-2410.
