Bonnie R. Epperson, 93, of New London, Missouri, passed away at 1:43 PM Friday, May 10, 2019 at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Richard Epperson will officiate. Burial will be at Flint Hill Cemetery in New London, MO.

Friends and Family are invited to Bonnie’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Bonnie was born January 25, 1926, in New London, MO to Lloyd and Julia Conrad Brinker. She was married to Russell H. Epperson on November 7, 1946 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death January 21, 2013.

Survivors include 2 sons, Randy Epperson (Dian) of New London, MO and Brad Epperson (Cindy) of New London, MO, 4 grandchildren, Leslie Arnett (John), Shawna Smoot, Ashley Epperson and Danny White. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Delton Brinker, Basil Brinker and Virgil Brinker.

Bonnie was a longtime educator. She taught at all levels in her teaching career for the Ralls County School District, even serving as Superintendent of Schools at one time. Bonnie completed her teaching career with the Hannibal School District as an Elementary School Guidance Counselor.

A lifetime strong Pro-Life Democrat, Bonnie enjoyed politics. She served as Treasurer for Congressman Harold Volkmer from 1976 to 1996. Bonnie was also honored to be a Missouri Delegate to the 1992 Missouri Democratic Convention in New York City, NY.

Bonnie also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Trips to Biloxi, MS and Tunica were always enjoyed with an occasional visit to play the slot machines. Square dancing, caring for her cats and watching “Bonanza” on TV were a few of Bonnie’s favorites.

Most of all Bonnie will be remembered as a compassionate and generous woman that was honest and giving. She simply enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and being with those she loved the most.

Bonnie was a member of Salt River Christian Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack See, Gary Brinker, Gary Epperson, and Tim Evans.

Memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Missouri Humane Society or Luther Manor Nursing Home.
