Sydenstricker Celebrates 75 Years
Sydenstricker’s motto is, “When you build partnerships, you build business.” Since 1944, Sydenstricker’s has relied on solid relationships with family members, customers and the community to form our foundation for success.
Ralph Sydenstricker founded Sydenstricker’s of Missouri as an International Harvester dealership in 1944 in Paris, Missouri. In 1952, Ralph traded a tractor for his first Black Angus cow and Sydenstricker Genetics was in its beginning. He continued to operate the International Harvester dealership until 1960 when he sold to J.I. Case Company and focused on continuing to grow the Angus business. In 1965, Ralph decided to go back into the implement business and purchased the International Harvester dealership in Macon, Missouri. His son, Eddie, became the manager. A year later, Ralph had the opportunity to become the John Deere dealer in Mexico, Missouri. With an International Harvester dealership in Macon, a John Deere dealership and Angus farm in Mexico, Ralph and Eddie partnered with Galen “Gabe” Gabriel, the International Harvester territory manager in 1969. At this time, Eddie moved back to Mexico to assist with the John Deere dealership and Angus farm and “Gabe” managed the Macon location. Many years passed and relationships with family members, customers and communities grew.
Today, Sydenstricker’s of Missouri has grown to a 13-store, all John Deere organization with dealerships in Mexico, Macon, Rocheport, Kirksville, Chillicothe, Palmyra, Moscow Mills, Curryville, Tipton, Hermann, Dutzow, Salisbury, and Columbia owned by the Sydenstricker and Gabriel families.
Presently, there are 375 employees in the all Missouri organization. Sydenstricker has been recognized by John Deere Financial as a Platinum Medallion Dealer for obtaining a strong market share in the Missouri area. Sydenstricker was also honored by John Deere with the 2018 Aftermarket Achievers Award ranking 17th in the country for achieving excellence in parts and service.
Sydenstricker gives back to local organizations and charities across the state. Sydenstricker has a strong partnership with the Missouri Food Bank helping stop hunger in rural Missouri. The Sydenstricker and Gabriel families are proud supporters of local FFA and 4-H chapters. Sydenstricker John Deere is proud to celebrate their 75th year of being By Your Syde and look forward to continuing with the fourth generation as a family owned business.
