University of Missouri Extension Council Holds Annual Meeting
The annual dinner meeting of the University of Missouri Extension-Ralls County Council was held February 28, 2019 with 36 people attending. The meeting was held in the basement of the courthouse in New London.
Daniel Mallory, Livestock Specialist, introduced newly elected or appointed Extension Council members for 2019. They included Abigail Moore, Saverton Township; Beverly Klise, Spencer Township; Dustin Wasson, Town of Perry; Sarah Evans, Jasper Township; Tom Ruhl, Clay Township and Austin Bailey, Farm Bureau representative. Re-elected to the council were Cindy Simpson, Saline Township and Adria Palmer, Center Township.
Jim Meyer, Community Engagement Specialist, recognized retiring council members and presented those present with certificates of appreciation. The retiring council members included Dave Zeiger, Saverton Township; Gary Fowler, Jasper Township; John Freiling, Clay Township; Caroline Trower, Town of Perry; Janine Stephenson, Spencer Township; Adam Gatson, Farm Bureau and Kyla Ingram, youth representative. Meyer thanked each of these retiring members for their time and service given to the extension council.
Cindy Simpson and R.C. Harlow received the Leaders Honor Roll award from University of Missouri Extension.
Extension Council officers elected for the 2019 extension council year are Terry Hoyt, president; Sarah Evans, vice-president; Cindy Simpson, secretary and Vicki Rouse, treasurer. The new officers were sworn into office by Sandy Lanier, Ralls County clerk.
Mike Krauch, MU Extension Northeast Regional Director, was the guest speaker. He shared pictures and videos of winter in Michigan where he lived before moving to Missouri. He also talked about the future efforts of extension to improve the economic opportunity, healthy futures and educational access and excellence of Missourians. The local extension council plays a key role in these efforts.
The Extension Council is in charge of University of Missouri Extension programming in Ralls County and oversees the finances, staff, and activities of the Ralls County Extension Center. The council meets the fourth Thursday night of each month at the courthouse in New London.
