Mark Twain FFA Members Attend National Convention

by Ashlyn Eisele, Mark Twain FFA Reporter

Mark Twain FFA attended the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo. on October 24-27. To qualify for the opportunity to attend, members had to be ranked in the top fifteen of the FFA points chart. The fifteen members who attended earned points by participating in events such as the Ice Cream Social, Area V Leadership Conference, Bradford FFA Day, Adopt-A-Highway, and by raising at least $600 through the FFA fundraiser.

While on the trip to Indianapolis, members got to participate in many activities. Upon arrival, they attended the Opening Session where they heard from the National FFA Officers and keynote speaker, Kyle Scheele (sponsored by John Deere), and a concert opened by Ned LeDoux, featuring Garth Brooks. They also attended a career show, a rodeo, the second general session, and toured a candy shop and an apple orchard. The trip was wrapped up after attending the American Degree ceremony, where Mark Twain alumni, Bailey Klise, received her degree.

Mark Twain FFA would like to thank the community for their support of our fruit sales fundraiser, the mum sale, and the labor auction/degree ceremony, which was held on November 1st. Funds from both of these will help the chapter pay for events throughout the school year, such as spring contest admissions, State FFA Convention, the “End of the Year Trip,” and Washington (D.C.) Leadership Conference. Community development is one of the three parts of a chapter’s Program of Activities (POA), and the Mark Twain FFA Chapter is very appreciative for the support from their community.
