Monroe City Singers Schedule Rehearsals

September 06, 2018

Monroe City rehearsals are set to begin for the 2018 fall season of the Monroe City Singers. Sept. 13 will be the first meeting of the group which meets from 6 to 8 p.m. weekly on Thursday nights at the United Methodist Church in Monroe City. The group rehearses a variety of secular and sacred choral music selections in preparation for its annual Christmas Concert, tentatively scheduled for Dec. 1-2. In addition, the group sings at the Monroe City Community Thanksgiving Service on the evening of Nov. 19. Music performed by the Singers includes standard, classic, and pop songs in acappella and accompanied choral settings.

The Singers are a non-auditioned group of approximately 60 members and draw on several area communities for its membership. Basic music reading ability is helpful, but the most important criteria is a desire to sing. Todd Richman will be returning as the director of the group. Accompanists include Marsha Crowley and Colby Schulz.
